India squad for T20 world cup

India has revealed the lineup of their 15-player squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

India will be led by Rohit Sharma as they try to win their long-awaited title. The BCCI has named their team for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Before the news, there was a lot of talk about who would be the wicketkeeper, with many people vying for the job. In the end, India gave the gloves to Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson.

Pant will be back in international cricket for the first time since December 2022, when he almost died in an accident that kept him out for more than a year.

Because Shivan Dube was playing so well in the IPL, it was hard to leave him out. He kept his spot in the team after playing in the recent T20I series against Afghanistan. The 30-year-old has been in great shape for the Chennai Super Kings, scoring 350 runs at an amazing 172.41 per over in nine games.

India has chosen a spin-heavy bowling squad with Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal. Jasprit Bumrah will lead the pace battery with Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and vice-captain Hardik Pandya helping him out.

It wasn’t a surprise that Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav were picked as openers. They were all expected to help the top order along with Rohit, who was captain.

The only people who get to play are pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan, along with Shubman Gill and Rinku Singh.

The big name that isn’t on India’s list is KL Rahul, who played in their last two T20 World Cups (2021 and 2022).

India squad: Rohit Sharma (c), Hardik Pandya (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj

Reserves: Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan

In the event, India is in Group A with its bitter rival Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and co-hosts USA. Their first game is on June 5 against Ireland at the brand-new Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Their next game is against Pakistan, which is one of the most anticipated games of the upcoming T20 World Cup.
